I'm sure the oracle will answer this but I'd like as many views as possible.

What tyre pressure should be used on a buggy (fat wheels)?
What about skinny wheels?
In Buggies, boats & peels Peter recomends to "let the pressure of on tarmac",
by how much?

Nice and hard, so that the drag is lower on hard sand.

>What about skinny wheels?
Very hard to stop them rolling off the rims.

Soft enough to increase the contact area as much as reasonable

You owe the Kite Oracle a formula for converting between metric,
imperial, and the terms "Nice and hard", "Very hard" and "Soft enough".

If you want to go fast, fill 'em up! I've gotten over 45 lbs in the fat
tires, but generally run them at about 35. Skinny tires, same deal, the
harder they are, the easier to roll. Keep the outsides of your bearings
clean and free from dirt. I treat all metal on my buggy with T-9
Boeshield, and am still running some over a year old bearings that have
been in a salt water environment for some time.

Come to the desert in a few weeks and we'll see what really works.

good luck,

I have a P.L competition buggy, but I would like to know if there is a
set (or recommended) tyre pressure for 1. sand( or beach use) and 2.
Grass use ?

My experience is to have lower pressure for soft sand so you can gain some
traction. Hard packed sand and grass, higher pressure so you can slide.

Fill tires to reccomended capacity and then fill and release when needed.

Alan
I use 24 lbs pressure in my Cobra Buggy for beach use. In the desert I left
it the same and it worked just fine. If the surface is rough then reducing the
pressure will soften up the ride at the expense of a bit of drag.
BTW I am starting a homebuilt buggy page on my web site. Any one out there
that has built his own buggy please send me a picture and a short description
and i will include it on my web page. I have one unit now, a PVC buggy
designed and built by Ken Serack. I have a couple more on the way. The PVC
buggy works really well as does the PVC tandem unit. Check it out.
