It was a well attended festival and I got to meet several kiters that I had never met before!! It was a two day event, with almost all of the 2 line "stunt" activities on Saturday, a banquet, and night fly on saturday. I am toasted by the sun to a bright red glow in the dark burn, as I was politely asked and accepted the job of pit boss for most of the 2 line events... I was impressed with Frank Kenisky IV, as both a flyer and a tireless worker getting points into his database for not only rankings in each local event but also the SouthWest Kite conference rankings that were anounce at the evening banquet! I am truly torn between who I shall vote for, or the region 8 directorship, because before meeting Frank, it was no contest, now I don't know! I have always been impressed with the friendships and comradery (sp) seen at kite festivals!! Last July at the Edmond Libertyfest (the one I mange to mismanage eery year now for 3) my daughter messed up her line just before she was to stage onto the field and another kiter (Gerrald Kelly (I think) quickly attached his line to her kite. Then it was determined that her kite (one of my ancient history heavy monsters) was to heavy for the light breezes and she got a strangers kite attached to the line that wasn't hers in the 1st place. This story, I have told before, but it is not an isolated case!! EVERYBODY I have ever met at a kite fest or fly, has been more than willing to hand you the shirt off their back, if they felt it was needed!! At the Clinton festival the winds were fresh indeed!! Almost everybody was flying with a break on their kite lines. WE tried to find a break for Emily's kite (we are very proud of our autographed "Sprint" that we picked up at Brian Head Fly this summer) to slow it down some. We asked all the merchants that were selling stuff and either they were sold out or hadn't brought any! A very good flyer from Kansas City named David Bui, who told me he represented Wind Wizards Kite store in Kansas City, not only offered Emily one of his breaks, but also installed it for her. When we tried to give it back, he made her a gift of it (which thrilled her beyound belief) and refused any payment or recourse for his actions!! What a gentleman!! AS are all the gentle people, I have met at flies and fests!! Thanks AKA, for bringing us all together!! jon wagner wjon@okcforum.osrhe.edu = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
