I should point out that I gave up and built it in flo yellow for this precise reason. I had mitigating circumstance: it was my first kite and I had enough problems anyway. However, I did a bit of experimentation, and found that you can quite happily avoid the problem by sticking the ribs prior to sewing. After marking the deck, you can run your glue of choice (I used double sided sticky tape, but that was because I grew up on Valerie Singleton) down the drawn line and attach the hem of your rib so that its sewing line coincides with the edge of the tape. You may be thinking "Yeugh - what a klude", but it does work, and I haven't come across any side effects yet. For extra visibility, you can run seamstress' chalk down the ridge formed by the double thickness of ripstop on the side you want to have facing upward. The down side of this is that it takes an enormous amount of time to do the sticking accurately. So much so, in fact, that I jigsawed a pattern out of 7mm wood to allow me to mould the profile more accurately and quickly.
