We had been waiting for someone else to post an overview, but since it has not benn forthcoming, here I go. The event was successful as usual. The crowds were above average both days. The weather was generally cooperative, though cloudy skys kept us from having record attendance. All of the sport kite competition was run, though the number of entries was quite small in some events. Team Aviators (Jim & Jeff Poy) put in a superb performance in team ballet, flying their usual signature Kestels by Joel Scholtz. Lam Hoac won the OIB, flying his "Dream". We were usually busy on the single line fields and missed the Novice events, so I cannot comment further on the competition. Each day of the two day event there was a great rokakku battle. Alain Lalone and his fiance Michelle were invited guests from Quebec, they claim to have won both days ;-) Our own Millenium Warrior did well, scoring several cuts and many tips. We were also cut several times, but managed to recover and get back into the fray after one cut. Other rok battle participants included Eric Brackenburry, Don Brownridge, Merv Cooper, and Rick & Robyn Gardiner. Rokakkus are defintely gaining in popularity around here. The event was sponsored by Ganz, a maker of teddy bears. They allowed the 2nd Canadian ParaBear Regiment to jump carrying the kids' winning tickets for the bears donated as door prizes. The 2nd CDN PBR was also assisted in this effort by bears from the Ottawa Valley Kitefliers Society. If anyone else was there and has the complete competitive results please post them. Let those folks have their moment in the spotlight. Michael Graves & Ilene Atkins = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
