I must admit, I've been reading all this political stuff going on between Frank and the AKA, AKC, and whoever else. Unfortunately, many Rec.Kiter's will be swayed to take sides for or against a person named in all this instead of for or against an issue. Few of us personally know any of the people mentioned in this fiasco whose names are being besmirched with recless abandon. We don't know them but yet we are being coerced to make judgements of their character, integrity, or personality by linking them to issues. People are people and issues are issues. Many people make personal judgements of someone's character based upon their sympathy for the issues rather than one's personal knowledge of the character of an individual. Issues provoke much emotion among those who are affected and the emotion can be transferred into love for an individual who agrees with us on an issue or hate for an individual who disagrees with us on an issue. A person rarely confines his emotion to an issue but projects it towards an individual. Proof of this phenomena is obvious in this on-going display of issues being turned into love or hate of an individual. Positions of authority are generally manned by people who are ambitious enough to get involved and want to gather domineering strength through those he can convince to see things his way. Call it politics if you want but it is nothing more than getting people to see things your way. If you can garner enough emotion in those sympathetic to you and your ideas, you win, But, to transfer that emotion of an issue to hate or love of an individual usually backfires creating hate for the individual who uses this tactic. Why? because it is an unfair attack on a person's character. Why should we, Rec.kiter's, be coerced to make judgements of character by one who is transferring emotion of an issue to create love or hate for any individual. Frank, you are bordering on changing emotion for an issue into love or hate of an individual of whom we know little or nothing about. For your own sake, CUT IT OUT before I have to hate you for your unfair attacks. STICK TO THE ISSUES AND THE ISSUES ONLY. I'm not sure I can speak for most of the Rec.kiters, but, my opinion is that whatever issues of fairness exist will be resolved in time. For now, lets just live by whatever rules exist since they are applied equally to all, good or bad, and let's enjoy our sport. I know that this is probably the wrong place for an article of this nature, but I feel that some may be swayed by what is going on and may make character judgements based on the emotions for an issue rather than on knowing the individuals being bad mouthed.
