My problem is that I built a shuttle kite from Stunt Kites to Build and Fly, which flies very well with a tubular tail. When I take the tail off it becomes quite an exiting little kite, but if the wind drops temporarily or if I fly it to the edge of the flight envelope, it has a tendency to spin, out of control, to the left. If this occurs due to temporary loss of wind it can be recovered when the wind picks up, but if it occurs at the edge of the flight envelope it continues to spin until the earth gets in the way. Could some kind soul tell me whether this is a problem inherent in the design or whether I can correct it in some way. I built the kite primarily for my six year old son to fly with a tail and it fulfils this role admirably, but if I can get the problem ironed out it promises to be an even better kite without the tail. Perhaps we just don't know (people post replies if they can answer confidently, but tend not to write to say "don't know"). >My problem is that I built a shuttle kite from Stunt Kites to Build >and Fly, which flies very well with a tubular tail. A Guess: The bridle is adjusted for the tail, which will pull the nose back. Removing it messes up the balance and stuffs it up at the edge of the window.
