Don't expect the same depth of information that you find in the newsgroup, it's more a place to drop in for a chat with kite flying friends. To join, you need to be on a machine connected to the Internet. The detail may be different for you, but here's how you do it round here: Run irc: Either type irc at the prompt, click on the irc icon or telnet to an irc server. Join the "rec.kites" discussion group: Type "/join #rec.kites" Now, things you type are echoed to everyone else who's on. I'll be connected most of the time (my name on IRC is "gaffer"), but I might not be paying attention. Write a message with a bell character (Control-G) to wake me up (but if it's not between 9:00am and 5:30pm in the UK it might be ringing in an empty office...) Anyway, drop by and say hello...
