We discussed among other things the AKA Ranking System. Now I realize that this is getting to be a bit of a bother, but with most of you it really doesn't matter. Your kill files will take care of this. The issue which we discussed was the fact that since I manage many of the events in this area, do we want to go the extra trouble and become sanctioned? What is the benefit? Insurance? What does the policy state as far as the liability of the event organizers? I have asked for a copy of the policy and have never received it. Too bad I did not put it in writing other wise I could provide documentation. But what does having an event sanctioned provide? The person I discussed this with was very good and had an abundance of information. As a matter of fact he mentioned that he thought the AKA had modified this years ranking system to include some of the things I had been arguing all along. Since I am no longer a member and do not have a copy of KITING, I am a but curious as to what were the modifications. According to the individual I talked with, the system will include a modification which will require contestants to compete in at least two events inside the conference which they choose at the beginning of the year. Also, he stated that there would be a cut off of the number of contestants per event at ten. This would allow a more fair distribution of points to those who compete outside a conference which has a smaller attendance. If this is true then I am sorry that I have caused so much trouble. Becasue I see that things are working toward a better and more equitible system. If not they why does this AKA Conference scoing person think this. Could it be that there is a LACK of communication? I only hope it is the former. I do have one question though, what is the other ranking system which the AKA will use to qualify those who travel outside their conference and *Never* compete within their conference. [I don't know something like that.] But Why? And did the AKA, with all the past experience, test the newest system against last years results so as not to waste time with a 12 month what if? This is not a slam or a flame it is a question. Just thought I'd ask. Mr.Nasty BTW - I don't sell a stunt kite book or am I considering selling a video of how to fly stunt kites. Nor do I sell kites or advertise that I am going to sell kites. And if I did, I think it would be pretty tacky to advertise that fact. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
