An ftp address would be helpful. ( I think someone mentioned software called "xv") Thanks. If you are running on a PC there is a shareware product called Graphics Workshop for Windows (there is a DOS version as well) which does a fine job. Another shareware viewer to look for is VPIC which runs under DOS. GWSWIN I know for sure is available via FTP at a number of sites. I've never checked for VPIC. I don't have exact site names handy but you can find them easily with an Archie search. Or, if you prefer, e-mail me and I'll try to dig up the refs. If you are running on a PC >there is a shareware product called Graphics Workshop for Windows The picture that started this thread is called Natalie.pcx.Z. PCX format is supported by Windows 3.1 paintbrush. I used Paintbrush to convert it into a 256 colour bitmap, to display as wallpaper on my hi-res SVGA screen. The ".Z" (if still retained on the archive) indicates that it has been compressed using "compress". Some if the stuff in the archive is in GIF format, which will require a different viewer (such as xv). Graphics Workshop (or Graphics Workshop for Windows) will view PCX, GIF, TIFF, JPG, BMP, and several other image formats. Both are available at a number of FTP sites (GWSWIN11.ZIP is the Windows version archive name). I've never tried xv but I'd like to. Time to break out Archie and go hunting I guess :-) C. chubbard@beta.tricity.wsu.edu = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
