(1-800-827-6364) Subject: Krypton-S question... I just built a Krypton-S (1.8m) from Stunt Kites II with a couple minor(?) deviations. The biggest is that I added gauze to the cell openings. My hope was that the gauze would help retain the leading edge shape better but my fear is that I've made it tougher to fly in lower winds and at the edge of the window. I flew it for a short time this weekend in light winds and spent most of the time tweaking the bridling. It inflates and flies pretty well but for some reason turns better in the right half of the window than the left. If I get too far left (kite slows and) it collapses in the turn. This is sometimes recoverable...sometimes not. The kite is quite happy to fly straight overhead and overshoot it's zenith if I'm not carefull. (this I expected) This is the first kite of this kind I've built and It was a learning project using some old uncoated rip-stop that I picked up real cheap. Basically I'm happy with it but seek opinions on the addition of gauze or any other words of wisdom. btw, Can I do anything to make this uncoated ripstop more 'air opaque'? If it flies at all in light winds, then it is better than mine. Mine tends to collapse in turns in anything less than about a 7. You also mentioned an uneveness in the turning. I have noticed this as well, and wonder if it is to do with the sewing. (Start from one end, work to the other, by which time the style has changed slightly ?) Not too sure about that. ANyway, I was flying mine yesterday in 20-25mph winds at Blackheath. Faster than a flexi, so fast I could not keep it off the ground (I was using 50' lines which didnt help.) Then I got the sputnik out :-) Bye Bye life....
