(1-800-827-6364) Subject: LASKC 1996 - Are you still Interested? I am now taking names and numbers for anyone interested on the LASKC for 1996. We need to find qualified individuals for a comittee. Any help, including you comments is greatly appreciated!!! I will be attending the Berkeley Kite Festival at the end of June, so look for me there if you live in NoCa.. I will also be in Long Beach Wa. in August. Some ideas we are bouncing around: 1. The "California Invitational" will include a national (AKA willing) competition event, with cash payouts for the top 3 positions at every level. 2. A Manufacture/Retail midway, and multiple demostration fields. 3. Learn to fly area all weekend long, with instruction by various competitors, including clinics for Individual and Team. 4. A large area for Single Liners, especially the BIG ones!!! 5. A fighter kite competition. 6. Buggy demo. (We need ideas here folks!) 7. The California Open: You bring your kite, what ever you want. We start the music, and you go for it!!! Open to any level of flyer. $500 winner take all.... judged by the audience!!!! Might even have a Team event! Oh.... by the way.... you won't know what music we will play!!!! All of this is possible, and the area we are looking at draws 250,000 on the weekends from June through mid-September!!!! Thanks for you time. BFK Sports has received offers from several manufacturers to provide prizes (estimated value over $600) and we are willing to put up money for promotional costs. I think this event is a very real possibility. Count us in. The SDKC is eager to have an event down south but are open to Southern California. I think I can speak on their behalf. Who do you have for the "money people"? Neil Tuthill is willing to talk to non-kiting sponsors (soft drinks, radio stations, etc). Can we schedule the quadline competition for the best wind of the day??
