I'm more a lurker than a contributor. I check in here at Rec.kites at least once every day to read some great posts, but most of the time I have very little or nothing at all to add. But I am here and enjoy being here. I'm sure there are alot more people like myself, so why don't we just have a "Lurker Check-in" from time to time just to say Hi and let other contributors and lurkers know that we are here. Any way, its time to check-in. Hi everybody. Hope all are having a great summer (or winter) flying or building your kites. Wish you all the best of winds. Any other lurkers that would like to check-in? ;-) Later -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dick Bell dickbell@netcom.com Dallas, Texas = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Thu, 21 Jul 1994 12:13:30 -1000 From: larryn@ten-fwd.airpcs.com (Larry Navarro) Message-Id: <30mrub$19f@news.cerf.net> Organization: AirTouch Communications, PCS Group Subject: Re: Lurker Check-in (sorry about the blank post) Hello everyone. My name is Larry Navarro and I am very new (obviously) to the Internet. I've been flying stunt kites for about a year and a half now and enjoying myself tremendously. I was very fortunate to meet rec.kiter and allaround good guy Bert Tanaka right after purchasing my first 8 footer (Tracer from the BFK garage sale.) Thanks for all the help and instruction, Bert. I live in Baldwin Park, California and fly at Belmont Shores on the weekends (not a secret location anymore.) Lots of nice kitefliers can be found there, too. I enjoy reading all of the articles here and at the archives. Thanks to all of you who contribute and maintain this cozy place for us to meet and chat. I am also a lurker, there, I feel better now. I'm not much of a kite flyer, but I love the sport and am getting deeper involved all the time. Just a bit about who and how. I am an American living in Finland. I bought my first REAL kite (Rev II) just 7 months ago back home in San Francisco. Had lots of fun learning and breaking here in Finland and stubled across rec.kites 6 months ago. I met the great Simo Salanne through rec.kites and saw him fly (wow!) at the local model airplane field (the lucky guy lives a 5 minute walking distance from that prime flying spot and has a special permit to fly kites there). Enough said, I hope to hear from other lurkers who feel the need to check in, maybe we could have a monthly check in, say every last Friday of the month. Who knows we may just add something useful to this conference yet :-) . Finland, the small white north.
