I have hear that in the past years there was a little bit of mud, but this year's event was VERY DRY. I have the sunburn to prove it! I think the Arnold's did a very good job as well as all the staff to make this a great and memorable occasion. Saturday was a mixture of wind speeds (My guess was 0 to 8 MPH), but we saw some amazing performances. The one I keep thinking about was a ballet by Emanuel (Sorry I can remember the last name) were he did a 360, helecopters, axels and wing tip stands with his patchwork ZDX. I also saw some great performances by Merick Monday flying his Symphony and Sandy Wagner with a Zero Wind Deca. In the team section I really enjoyed "Late for Supper" and their Ballet routine to the James Bond theme and the Valley Boys with their pairs routine to "I heard it through the Grape Vine" with two GIANT kites. Sunday held winds that were perfect for most kites (7 to 15+ MPH) and was VERY HOT! I tried out a Speed limit for my first time and the Symphony. I enjoyed both kites and will probably own one of each before the year's over. I remember a very impressive team ballet routine by the Valley Boys and a Quad routine by (?) that involved a 4 Diamond kites on a single cross spar. Sunday afternoon the big winners were the Valley boys with atleast 5 (if not more awards). I recall person asking if they were going to build a deck with all that wood. I think that Richond, VA was a prefect sight for ODSKC and would put my vote in for it to be held there again next year. I also think that it being held with the Virginia State Games was an excellent decision and did much to increase the visiblity of our Sport --------------------------------------------------------------------- Eric D. The location was great, the staff did a great job and having the Virginia Games include ODSKC as a kite event was an added bonus. Perfect event, do it again next year, but a little less heat. Things that would be nice to add for next year would be a night fly. We had an unofficial night fly on Saturday (fun stuff) and Rock battles.
