Fellow Kiters, I seem to have run into a particular problem... I now have a Peel, and plan to do some traction with it (on snow and grass). The problem is- I don't know if I should invest a LITTLE money into a pair of used skis for this (I know of one guy here in Kansas that uses his skis on grass also) or a used snow board. My concerns are the following: If I buy skis, then a couple of my power kiting friends (Yes, I share my kites with experienced Power Kiters ) would have to purchase their own ski-boots (The cost of used skis and boots run about the same as the snow board)-If I get the ski board, I eliminate the "friend" problem, but now I worry about the ability to turn (I have been on skis before- never on a snow board<- will this turn in grass?). So for some of you who might of had wxperience with either snow boarding or skis with kites, please help me out! Note: I am also safety minded-so please don't suggest anything that might kill me- you might feel REAL guilty later in life. I have also thought about the buggy and other modes of traction, but I prefer either snow boarding or skiing. Thanks- Paul Kalowski ---------------------------------------------- "Yeah, yeah, yeah- so it was me that asked Andrew@tug.com all those questions about the Peel." ---------------------------------------------- And, for those of you who don't mind an occasional plug.... ---------------------------------------------------------- Check out page 21 of the AKA Kiting Journal! My buddies are in the Picture! The guy sitting behind the "One Sky One World" kite, with his mouth open is David Bui. To the right is Chris Moore (Son of Carolyn, not Husband as stated. He's holding the dark blue and black kite-which appears as, you guessed it, a dark tinted kite in B&W) Dave's brother is the one with the "Cure" kite. At the time of the picture I was flying a Magnum Opus and tuned out... Don't let that banner fool you, the winds were horrible that day. A great bunch of friends in the KC Kite Club. If you read that article, the spat about media coverage is quite true- I have actually made it to local news a couple of times! (NO, that doesn't mean that I am a professional kite flyer- but hey, I fooled the camera man. ------------------ --------------------------------- Sorry, I had to say something about it. I kept putting it off as long as possible-But the pressure, oh, the pressure... = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: 3 Mar 93 23:29:46 GMT From: cab@col.hp.com (Chris Best) Message-ID: <1n3f1aINN6nk@hp-col.col.hp.com> Organization: your service Subject: Re: Peel w/ skis or snowboards? Just a thought - ski boots vary in length (with shoe size), so if all your friends bought boots to use your skis, they may not fit the bindings. It IS a relatively easy adjustment, but maybe not one you want to do often, in the field. Depends on the binding, I'd guess. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
