I currently have a 10ft Flexifoil and I am seeking to upgrade it to a more powerful kite. I quite fancy the idea of a soft kite and I want something that will be powerful enough to pull a buggy (for when I get around to getting/making one). Kites under Consideration 1: A Inlfight (Jim Rowlands) Vector - 165 uk pounds 2: A Inflight (Jim Rowlands) PowerQuad - ~200 uk pounds 3: A Quadrifoil 3m - 265 uk pounds (Inc lines and handles) The Quadrifoil is definitely the dearest kite I am prepared to buy and I don't wish to spend that much really. I'm looking for the best performace/price ratio. I like the sound of the Vector, and I like its price, but am a bit unsure of its suitability for buggying. The Quadrifoil appeals to me primarily because it is a 4-line kite and will be more controllable for buggying. The PowerQuad is a kite I have HEARD about - I have never even seen one. Does anyone have any experiences of this kite ? Are there any other kites I should consider (Peels are too expensive !). Many thanks for any responses in advance ... Please CC: replies to me as News expires mighty fast 'round here. -- Declan Higgins - dhiggins@bfsec.bt.co.uk ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Mihi crede, hoc mihi magis quam tibi nocet" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Wed, 4 May 1994 04:52:16 -1000 From: francis@eniac.seas.upenn.edu (Francis J Gramkowski Iii) Message-Id: <2q8cr0$96m@netnews.upenn.edu> Organization: University of Pennsylvania Subject: Re: Power Kiting - Recommendations Declan Higgins (dhiggins@bfsec.bt.co.uk) wrote: : Dear all, : Once again I seek wisdom from the net... : I currently have a 10ft Flexifoil and I am seeking to upgrade it to a : more powerful kite. You may want to consider another ten foot flexifoil, when I started buggying (before quadline foils and peels were available) I used two ten foot flexfoils. A train of two ten footers has plenty of power to pull a buggy. The disadvantagess are that it takes a good amount of arm to turn and that, as with any two line kite, you usually have to get out of the buggy to relaunch. I still buggy with them sometimes although they don't fly as well as they used as they have been in and out of the ocean several times, and have a few holes in them as well that need to be patched. Speaking of buggies, Peter Lynn will be at Willdwood, ECSKC, this year. There are no offical buggy races but there will be a large area marked out for buggies and there should be alot of buggying the Friday berfore the event starts and the Monday following.
