Subject: Quad/Parafoil into a Parachute?

Has anyone ever attempted to modify a quad or parafoil kite to a free falling
parachute with a dummy weight or payload? Of course, this could only be
attempted when there's no significant wind. I'm wondering how to adjust the
lines and give it some lateral stability.
