(1-800-827-6364) Subject: Review: Chicago Stunt Kite Festival Just back from the CSKF: This year was the 4th year for the festival, and it was a very exciting event. If you haven't attended this event, be sure to put it on your list for next year. Friday: The morning started off under grey skys and very light winds. The flying field at the Ned Brown Meadows was only minutes away from our hotel, so we were there in no time. The fields (1 comp, 1 manu demo, 1 free fly) were set up, and things were under way by 9:00am. The competition for individual classes were held, and all of the manufactures reps were there. The wind picked up, and we got all the scheduled events concluded by 4:00. Some of the masters individual flyers included David Bui, Abel Ortega and Darrin Skinner. The event was well planned, and went off smoothly. Saturday: Most of the Team Events were held on Saturday. The weather started off greay, but the sky's opened up and the wind got up to 15 mph, yet at times was very gusty. It was great to see people like Pete Dolphin and Scott Augenbaugh in attendance, demonstrating their wonderful kites and their flying styles. Scott was in the Manu. Demo field all day showing off his Trix, and the many different radical maneuvers like the side 1/2 axle and everyone's favorite, the Kamakazi Spin. He also had a class in the evening showing off some of his personal antics on video. It is fantastic to have people like Scott, Peter, Darrin Skinner, Eric Wolff et al in attendance. It allows the "weekend" flyer to get in contact with a vast amount of knowledge, experience and talent to take them to the next level. Everyone was hyped up for tonights Mystery Indoor Fly. 18 people showed their stuff, and the competition was incredible. The flyers in attendance were all great, and helped each other to the crowds enjoyment. This event should be growing year by year, so get out your SUL's and start praticing. Sunday: The Experienced and Masters Team Balet started off the last day of Competition. It was great to see Team Chicago Fire fly thier routine with the trademark "Uncle Fuzzy" Opus. The morning started off with a buzz created by the great music and the teams warming up. The weather started off grey, cold and windy, but the sky's later opened up and the wind picked up....... around 2:00p.m.. The trophy's were passed out after some great demos by some of the hottest flyers in the states today. Overall the CSKF was a great event Bob & Wilma Nyeman were first rate. Every concern, question or problem was taken care of to the absloute content of all parties in attendance. We will be there next year.... and so should you! = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 19 Jun 1995 14:00:51 -1000 From: mauricio@tezcat.com (Mauricio Araujo) Message-Id: <3s533j$o14@quilla.tezcat.com> Organization: t e z c a t . c o m - Wicker Park (Chicago) 312-850-0112 Subject: Re: Review: Chicago Stunt Kite Festival CoastlBrez (coastlbrez@aol.com) wrote: : Just back from the CSKF: Gee, I read your review a couple of times and I seem to have missed a mention of the Rok battle and the mass ascension.
