I have two kite stake holders that also provide some protection
against poking through kite bags and the like.

The holders are similar to Jeff's holder except that rather than have
a hole that the stake passes through, the holder runs the full length
of the stake, sort of a like a scabbard. The webbing blunts the end of
the stake. The holder is handy for both storing the stake and for
carrying it on the field while flying.
