Could someone describe how two buggies are attached to each other? I only once saw it from long-distance and on some photos. I suppose that the connection must be somehow flexible to allow proper steering. I have a Scooter-Buggy, so the Peter-Lynn-type-connection won't be adaptable to my buggy and I think of building one myself. Thanx for any detailed description or drawings, etc. CU on Fanoe, Robert. ... may you never miss your buggy-train. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 27 Feb 1995 12:52:31 -1000 From: andrew@tug.com (Andrew Beattie) Message-Id: Organization: /usr/lib/news/organisation Subject: Re: super-buggy-mega-train robert.pudlo@dbag.ulm.daimlerbenz.com (Robert Pudlo) writes: >some days ago, I read that a super-buggy-mega-train >should be set up at Fanoe. Trains can build up massive compressive forces on the central buggies, which the back axle in particular tends not to be built for. I'd like to try it, but only with friends that I've got the time to build up some experience with over a period of time. I don't particularly want either myself or my buggy in the middle of the twisted heap of metal that this may be heading for... What I'd like to try is a purpose-built, extra long buggy with maybe half a dozen seats... Perhaps a short, strong ladder with some wheels bolted on... >Could someone describe how two buggies are attached to each other? 1) Remove wheel. Clamp front axle to rear axle. (Lynn style) or 2) Replace down-tube with tube to joint to rear axle (Shapson style) or 3) add a "front-pointing" fork to front wheel, and clip onto rear axle (BO style. You get better performance from being closer (Lynn/Shapson). You put less strain on things by keeping the front wheel (BO). Me? I ride a Lynn buggy with a Shapson tandem, 'cos t's slightly further back, avoiding the "leg hits wheel" problem (so it's not quite such good handling, but it's more fun...) If you take a look at the Stunt Kites II book from Nop Veldhuizen, there is a picture and discription (in detail) of a connection. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 17 Mar 1995 12:28:27 -1000 From: steltzer@vwv.b.eunet.de (Michael Steltzer) Message-Id: Organization: Vom Winde Verweht GmbH Subject: Re: super-buggy-mega-train If you want to see a buggy train, then you should get in contact with TEAM CRAZY PEEL. They want to set the record. I suppose they will make their next attempt at the Easter Buggy Races in Borkum. The even take kids for a ride. I know they will be at the Kite Festival in Schvnhagen next to Berlin on the 27th and 28th of May. The local airport is donating 2 of its grass air strips for a buggy race: Schvnhagen Fun Cup. So far the LUFTPIRATEN and TEAM CRAZY PEAL have indicated that they will come.
