Marty Sasaki is a great friend to kiting. He is the AKA Region 1 director, an expert on traditional single line kites, a sport kite manufacturer, and captains Masters class Team Storm Front. He has a long history of supporting various kite events with his judging, by volunteering his organisational skills and aid, by doing whatever it took - from setting up stakes to field crewing for other competitors, and more than a generous donation of his personal time and expense. He has a reputation for being ethical, fair and honest. He is openly sharing with his knowledge of kites and has often devoted much to personal research to find answers for other interested parties. David Gomberg has made the sacrifice few of us could make. Time. And more time. He has invested a large part of his life into the AKA. For four years its been the job that never ends. Traveling to wherever AKA needed to be present, promoting kiting wherever he could, and establishing the form and organizational guidelines that the AKA needed to fairly represent all facets of kiting. It may be years from now before we can really appreciate the enormous contributions David and Susan Gomberg have left us with. David was the the most recent recipient of the AKA's highest and most prestigious award - the Steve Edeiken Award for Kiteflier of the Year. Both men are fine examples of people who share a love of kiting and a sincere concern for the health of its joy and welfare. On behalf of those many of us who have finely benefited from their contributions to our beloved pastime, thank you. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 19 Dec 1994 22:43:36 -1000 From: plepez@ulb.ac.be (Philippe Lepez) Message-Id: <3d65fo$8u8@rc1.vub.ac.be> Organization: Free University of Brussels Subject: Re: Two Kitefliers In article <9412192107.AA29162@mts-gw.pa.dec.com>, tanaka_be@swam1.enet.dec.com (Bert Tanaka) says: > ....... >Both men are fine examples of people who share a love of kiting and a >sincere concern for the health of its joy and welfare. This tells it like it is and I, for one, could not agree more. I have known of both gentlemen for many, many years and have recently met Dave Gomberg for the first time. He, and I would surmise, Marty Sasaki, exemplify the "hero's" of the sport in the United States. Hear, hear! Thanks to folks like you who do justice to the sport, the Gombergs and Sasakis get the public recognition on the InterNet that is due them. I support your comments 110... = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
