The dates for the 13th annual Washington State International Kite Festival, are from Monday, August 21 through Sunday August 27th, in Long Beach Washington. Indeed it is important to make a reservation NOW, to assure a motel room. Call the Long Beach Visitors Bureau at 1-800-451-2542 and they will get you all the info you need. If you need to know more, e-mail me. The buggy event may be early in the week, as it was last year. The stunt kite games will be on Friday, and demonstrations and Rokaku battles will be held Saturday. Sunday highlights include the world record attemt, to get more than 4000 kites in the air at once. If you havent seen that event before, you will be impressed. Quite a sight. Because August 1 is on a Tuesday this year, the festival dates are August 21-27. Finding a room in Long Beach during this time is always difficult. I don't have the info on hand at the moment, but will email you the number of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, who can send you a brochure listing lodging in the area.
