Charlie Sotich and Dan Proebstel will lead the workshops. Scott Skinner will bring out his miniature kite collection (including some astounding finds from China). Dawn Williams will be putting it all together. Val Govig (from Kitelines) will be taking names and taking notes. The festival weekend will include two workshops, the 2nd Annual Colorado Stunted Kite Competition, a kite auction, dinner on Saturday, and an award's brunch on Sunday. You can register up until the morning of the 25th, but call ahead and let Dawn know that you're coming. Registration is $75.00 per person and includes Saturday's dinner, Sunday's brunch, and all of the workshop materials. The stunted kite competition categories include: Smallest Kite (with and without tail), Longest Train, Train with Most Elements, Best Line Angle in Flight, Least Airworthy, Most Entertaining, Best Use of Bizarre Materials, Best Use of Mundane Materials, People's Choice, and Favorite Bribe. The festival is being held at the Colorado Springs Sheraton; call 719/756-5900 for room reservations. The cut-off date for the cheap rooms has at the Sheraton has past, so call the Springs Motor Inn at 719/576-8020, next door to the Sheraton, if you want less expensive lodging. Whether or not you can attend, consider making a donation to the silent auction. Proceeds from the auction will help defer the cost of putting on this event.
