One note about holding fabric down while working with it. Buy some 1" nylon tube webbing. It's just like flat tubing but... It's a TUBE. Sew one end shut. Fill with lead shot which you can buy rather cheaply at a gun store. Sew the other end shut. You can make various lengths. The tubing is also available in 2" width.
