     To splice broaken ends 1 and 2 together,
     Overlap the ends 1 and 2.

     Tie  an  overhand knot in 1A by first bending end  1  around 
line 2B.  Make the knot as tight as possible.

     Tie  an  overhand knot in bitter end 1 as close to the  knot 
around 2B as possible.   This is to stop end 1 from pulling  thru 
the knot around 2B.  Trim end 1 to about 1/8 inch from the knot.

     Tie  an  overhand knot in 2B by first bending end  2  around 
line 1A.  Make the knot as tight as possible.

     Tie  an  overhand knot in bitter end 2 as close to the  knot 
around  1A as possible.   This is to stop end 2 from pulling thru

     Finally  pull hard on A and B to slide the knots at 1 and  2 
together.  Adjust the length of the other line to suit this one.
