Date: Wed, 21 Apr 1993 16:54:00 GMT Other than changing to larger/stiffer/heavier spars try using multiple slip bridle legs to each of the leading edges and maybe even the center spine. The concept involves attaching both ends of a bridle line to the same leading edge. these bridle lines also pass through an eye at the pick point of the bridle. Be sure that the size of the eye lets the bridle line slide back and forth thus allowing it to balance the load. The two attachment points of a single added bridle line should be balanced about the center of the respective leading edge. For the size kite you're talking about, I would guess you should add two slip bridle lines to each side of the kite. You may need to add extra eyelets at the pick point. This should be a lot cheaper than new sticks. Disclamer, I've never done this but intuitively I think it should work. Cost wise, I think its worth a try. Let us all know what happens.
